Political Sensitization

In the year 2019, as the state prepared for an off-season election, the atmosphere grew tense among political party supporters. Aware of the potential risks and the community's painful history of inter-clan violence, Ihima Elites Initiatives took a proactive stance by launching a peace initiative. This initiative aimed to promote violence-free elections and foster peaceful coexistence among all community members.

To spread the message of peace and unity, the group initiated several impactful strategies. First, we visited the revered traditional leaders in the community, seeking their invaluable support in disseminating the message to their subjects. By engaging with these respected figures, the initiative was able to reach a broader audience and establish a foundation of trust and influence.

Recognizing the power of the media, the group embarked on radio programs to sensitize the public. The president, director of finance, vice president, and general secretary took to the airwaves, passionately advocating for a peaceful election and promoting harmonious coexistence. Their voices resonated across the community, instilling hope and encouraging citizens to embrace peaceful means of expressing their political beliefs.

To ensure the message reached even the most remote corners of the community, a mobile town crier was employed. This dedicated individual traversed the length and breadth of the area, playing a jingle specially composed for the peace initiative. This melodic reminder echoed through streets and neighborhoods, reinforcing the importance of non-violence and peaceful engagement.

In a powerful display of commitment, we organized a road show as part of our Peace Initiative. During this event, leaflets carrying impactful peace messages were distributed to community members. These leaflets served as tangible reminders of the collective responsibility to uphold peace and work towards a violence-free election.

The pinnacle of this initiative was a landmark conference, where representatives from each major political party came together. In a powerful demonstration of unity and dedication to the community's well-being, these representatives signed a peace accord. This accord symbolized their shared commitment to conducting a violence-free election and working towards a harmonious society.

Through these concerted efforts, we aimed to instill a sense of responsibility, unity, and peaceful coexistence among all members of the community. By leveraging traditional leaders, radio programs, town criers, road shows, and a symbolic peace accord, the Peace Initiative demonstrated that politics and harmony can indeed coexist.
